Our Core Values

Our curriculum celebrates God’s love and each child’s unique design. We nurture the whole child—spiritually, physically, emotionally, socially, and intellectually—through creative, hands-on learning. Faith grows through Bible stories, prayer, songs, and weekly Chapel.

Meet Splash – Our Feathered Friend and Faithful Mascot!

Meet Splash, our cheerful Wood Duck mascot! Native to Virginia’s wetlands, Splash reflects Warwick River Christian’s spirit, faith, and love for God’s creation.

Like our students, Wood Ducks are vibrant, family-oriented, and thrive in nurturing environments—growing in faith, learning with purpose, and soaring with confidence.

Since 1942: Our History

Warwick River Christian began in 1942 with 21 students in a church basement. Over the decades, God has guided our growth—from new buildings to expanded programs that now serve preschool through second grade in one nurturing campus.

Our childcare program, founded in 1989 and renamed Warwick River Christian in 2024, continues our mission of faith-filled, age-appropriate learning. Open year-round from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., we offer before- and after-care and engaging summer day camps—helping children grow, learn, and thrive in God’s love.

Governance

Warwick River Christian operates under Virginia’s religious-exempt status for faith-based schools and childcare programs. We meet or exceed all state and city fire, safety, and health standards, with regular inspections by the Peninsula Health Department and Newport News Fire Department.

All staff complete annual health screenings, background checks, and fingerprinting in accordance with Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) requirements—ensuring a safe, nurturing environment for every child.
